About me
Designer, scientist, founder
I have 10+ years in product design, most recently as the first and only designer at an AI biotech building virtual cell models. I’ve led design at enterprise scale (Splunk) and from zero (GenBio, Mantle Bio, and Lighten, my own company).
Frontier domains are where I want to be: early in a growing product, before there’s much structure and I can set the precedent. My passion is where science meets design: translating between bench scientists, engineers, and founders until we’re making decisions using the same compass. I do my best work with teams where design shapes what gets built, not just how it looks.
Outside work, I run a mycology lab, East Bay Myco, where I create DNA analysis software and extract and validate DNA sequences myself.

Trust is the interface
Most AI-for-science tools are built to demo well, not to survive contact with the scientific process. They over-invest in the pitch and under-invest in what a scientist actually needs: a result they can trust and defend. I design for that second thing. It’s why I’ve taken an AI product into alpha with pharma scientists and listened when they said what they’d need to trust it, and why I’ve shelved AI features that weren’t ready. This principle has been the foundation of my work since the very beginning: design must earn trust before it earns adoption.
